▼ Cloning and Expression
Masuhara et al. (1997) identified multiple members of the cytokine-inducible SH2 protein, or CIS, family. See 603597. CIS family members have an SH2 domain, which has 23 to 58% identity among members. There is also a relatively conserved C-terminal region, which Masuhara et al. (1997) termed the CIS homology domain, or CH domain. CIS4 has a very long N-terminal region of about 380 amino acids; the N-terminal region of other CIF family members is 40 to 80 amino acids in length. CIS4 expression was found to be high in factor-independent chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML; 608232) and human erythroleukemia (HEL) cell lines but low in B cell lines. CIS4 was not found to interact with any tyrosine kinases. Expression of CIS4 was induced by GM-CSF and EPO (133170) in certain cell lines.
▼ Mapping
Gross (2015) mapped the SOCS6 gene to chromosome 18q22.2 based on an alignment of the SOCS6 sequence (GenBank AB006968) with the genomic sequence (GRCh38).
