▼ Description
There appear to be about 1,300 tRNA genes in the human genome (Hatlen and Attardi, 1971). Arnold et al. (1986) detected a minimum of 13 valine tRNA genes in genomic blots of human DNA.
▼ Cloning and Expression
Craig et al. (1989) identified a human genomic DNA clone containing a cluster of 3 tRNA genes: 2 valine tRNA genes with anticodons of AAC (TRNAV1) and CAC (TRNAV2), encoding the major and minor cytoplasmic valine tRNA isoacceptors, respectively, and a lysine tRNA(CUU) gene. The cluster studied by Craig et al. (1989) contained at least 9 Alu elements, 3 of which were located between the valine tRNA(AAC) and lysine tRNA genes.
▼ Mapping
Gross (2014) mapped the TRV-AAC1-4 gene to chromosome 5q35.3 based on an alignment of the sequence containing TRV-AAC1-4 and 2 other tRNA genes reported by Craig et al. (1989) (GenBank M33940) with the genomic sequence (GRCh37).
